So you haven't been able to schedule your professional personal branding session yet because of COVID-19?
No worries. I got you! These are better than selfie photos, but they're kind of selfie'ish.
I know you still need photos of yourself for branding and content creation. Photos with your beautiful face in it, are the best part of your branding content, so I'm excited to share a few tips with you on how to show off your best features with just your cell phone.
There's a photography rule. Whatever is closes to the camera, appears bigger.
So, whatever you want to highlight, make sure to bring it closer to the camera.
Love your eyes?
Lean your head slightly towards the camera and tilt your chin slightly down to cause your eyes to open more.
Love your hair?
Make sure it’s blown-out or nicely styled and stays more in front of your shoulder than behind.
Love your shoulders?
Don’t be afraid to throw a little sass at the camera and do some cute over-the-shoulder poses! Chin to shoulder, with a smize!
Want to show off your waistline?
Make sure your hands aren’t ever flat by your sides. Bring your arms and elbows ever so slightly away from your waistline so the camera can clearly see it.
You'll be happy to know that you can be your very own Photoshop too!
When I say Photoshop, I speaking to things you want downplayed or that you want to appear slimmer in your photo. For that, the tip is to move that part of your body away from the camera. Objects away from the camera will appear smaller than they actually are. You're photo-shopping in camera, before you even snap the photo.
Want slimmer arms?
Be sure to always have a slight bend in your elbows and bring your elbow towards the back rather than out to the side.
Not a fan of your hips?
I hear Trust me. There's a time and place for hips!
Just stand slightly sideways instead of dead-on to the camera and lean on your back leg (causing the one closest to the camera to bend). Not only will this make your hips appear smaller, but you’ll love the sexy curve it gives your whole body. A slight shoulder dip towards the camera helps a lot too!
These tips are really how I guide you into posing during your session with me. I know how being in front the camera can feel, so I make it a point to calm by taking charge of all the posing, moving body parts and everything!
Love these tips? Think you'll be using them to create some DIY branding photos of you and your team?
